The 700 series moved to a 3-inch heavy-duty track and a universal T-style seal compatible with most aftermarket suppliers.

To identify your series, check the aluminum label strip on the right-hand track leg, roughly eye level. The 500 label reads “MG-I500” followed by a four-digit date code; the 700 reads “MG-I700” with a QR code added in 2023 production. If the label is painted over or missing, measure the track width with a tape measure: 2-inch means 500 series, 3-inch means 700.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Impact Garage Door Is Failing

• The door reverses before hitting the floor. The MG-Impact 500 and 700 both use infrared safety sensors, but the 500’s original sensors drift out of alignment in Hialeah’s humidity cycles. There are two things an owner can safely check before calling: whether the sensors are aligned (the LED on each should glow steady, not blink) and whether the door’s manual release is engaged. Everything else carries real risk.

Torsion springs store enough energy to cause serious injury or death if released incorrectly. We have seen Hialeah homeowners who watched a video and tried to wind a spring themselves.
