What goes wrong with DIY on these units: the multipoint lock gearbox is under spring tension, and releasing it without supporting the locking points can send cam fragments into the door cavity. The aluminum reinforcement channels inside the vinyl frame are sharp enough to slice through a glove. And if you remove the panel without shimming the header first, the frame racks and the unit never seals again without a full reframe.
